Travel page using ephemera

Hi there,

I’m bringing you a project I did recently of a travel page of a holiday I went on as a student to Dublin. I had a go at stenciling with gold acrylic paint and covered some in glossy accents to create a different texture. I have to admit that I’m not that good at it! I kept catching the edge of the stencil and making a mess but it was fun. I put a few blobs of nuvo crystal drops in a light yellow colour and waited for it to dry.

Where i’ve put the photo is actually the brochure/map from the Guinness factory, which is just a have to do while you are there, even though me and my friend both hate Guinness. What is amazing is the view from the tower at the top and the Guinness caramel chocolate bars which I brought for gifts and were eaten before we got back on the plane.

I added a few more photos and places for journalling inside but it folds out again to have information and a map of Dublin.

I layered a load of random embellishments from different collections but the main ones were from a sticker sheet from the Echo Park Getaway collection and I attempted to have a go at making a paper rose which turned out really cute!

Many Thanks for reading 🙂

UK Scrap Addict Challenge – June – Rainbow glitter fun!

Hello, I’m loving the new UK Scrap Addicts blog and they have a Facebook page. This month they have 2 mood boards to use as an inspiration this month and I chose the cut rainbow theme and loved the watercolour zebra.

No automatic alt text available.

I’ve seen Amy Tangerine doing the watercolour and straw technique and wanted to add it to my page – if you haven’t seen it its basically watercolour blob, get a straw and blow the paint in all directions. It’s so fun and easy!

So I created a rainbow background with that technique and added rainbow glitter to look like it was escaping under the photo – i used a 3×3 black and white photo to contrast with all the colour in the background

The hello script lettering made me use the cherish thicker with added sparkly for fun and layered the photo with some small pieces from my scrap basket. I put the photo up on foam pads to create dimension and added a wood veneer for the date.

Finally I pulled up the bottom corner for a space for journalling and added a piece of paper from Shimelle’s Little by Little,

Grandma’s Reading Chair – Cut Out file from Paper Issues

Hi There,

My little baby boy (who is 3) has just started preschool today, I just can’t believe how quickly the time has flown. This time next year he will start school, I never quite believed it when people said cherish the time, it goes so fast. At the time I had a grumpy baby who wasn’t sleeping, or a toddler kicking off because I wouldn’t put quinoa in my trolley (true story) but I do feel like I have cherished his early years.

I was lucky enough to have a cropping weekend away to get some layouts done which I had done a bit of prepping beforehand including cutting out this free file from Paper Issues.

If you haven’t checked it out their website it is really fab and have a large collection of free files as well as awesome layout ideas and shop.

I had recently purchased the little by little 6×6 paper pad from my local hobby craft after saying that i really wasn’t too keen on the critters and thought it was a little too feminine for me, it didn’t last long as I have the sticker sheets,m buttons and one of each of the 12×12 paper sheets now!

2017-06-13 12.47.30I didn’t want to add a title to this one as it was already quite busy with all the different papers in the background and I kept the embellishments quite simple too!

Thanks for reading, I hope you go and have a look at the paper issues website and have a go making a layout with this cut file!

My Favourite Layout – #scrapbookingismysuperpower

Hi There, I’ve not done much scrapbooking over the last few months – I got a new job and was trying to balance the new routine, I have been told by doctor to lose weight so my evenings have been popping to the gym when the little one goes to bed. I have to admit, I’m not doing great! I’m quite a stubborn person and need to make my own decisions even if it is for me own good! I also went on a family trip to Disney World which was brilliant, my little boy loved it, especially meeting Ariel and the water parks. It will never be warm enough in the UK for a waterpark!

I’ve been inspired this month to play along with the photo challenges set by Shimelle this month. Day 1 is to take a photo of my favourite layout.

This is one of my favorites because it has my son’s artwork in it. Clearly it’s not super great, he is only 3 but I love seeing the evolution of his artwork, like most mummas. He really loves painting but I can for the life of me get him to colour in or draw! He just likes getting messy too much. I try and fit in one arty project in a week- though as the weather gets nicer, it gets harder to avoid the sunshine!

Otherwise this is a pretty simple layout. 2 3×4 pictures from different ages, some journalling cards and the background is that lovely Starshine paper with the big moon – which I love but really couldn’t make it work for a background for my pictures!

The little enamel dots are from poundland and reminded me of the seaside and the picture behind. The letter stickers were also a bargain buy in B&M which I have never been in before to find these and some Shimelle knock offs!

Thanks for reading – Hopefully I’ll be back sooner rather than later with updates 🙂
