2017 – The year to finish the wedding album!

Hello There!

This year I have decided to finally try and finish my wedding album. It’s mostly PL cards with a few 12×12 spaces for a few bigger layouts with my favourite photos from the day. I decided to play along with the sketches from ‘The Love of Pretty Paper‘ Facebook group.

No automatic alt text available.

I tried to stay pretty close to the sketch above. Our wedding colours were pink, gold, grey and cream so wanted to make it as including all of those colours.

The background is a Dear Lizzy paper I think from the Saturday collection, the big flowers and gold are from Maggie Holmes bloom which I’ve had for ages unused. I love the flowers but with a little boy its hard to grab those out so it was amazing to get those used!

I used little pink letters from a studio calico project life kit and lovely gold lettering. Even though it is only a few paces I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous, It’s weird I never had any doubts about getting married, I think it was having everyone’s eyes on us!

I put a lot of gold colour shine spray and some gold washi tape and a cut up project life card for the journalling space. I have a lot of space for journalling in the other side so wasn’t too worried about it being a really tiddy size!

I love using flowers and I tucked a few cut outs feathers from a Kaiser craft line just to add a little more grey into the very pink and gold clusters!

Thanks for reading. Only another … pages till I’m finished!

Christmas recycling

Happy New year! This layout I did a bit of recycling from making my crackers. The leftover diamond shapes I thought I could use so stuck them down into snowflake type patterns. In the photo they look pretty card but in real life they are a very light pearly white. The snowflakes I made so I didn’t waste the glitter cardstock while making my personalised name tags.

I tried to keep quite a neutral colour scheme here just grey and white and included a see through bag I got from a studio calico kit in the background to hold my journalling.

I stamped a little bit in the background to give a more textured look and added on the sparkly snowflakes into my layered photo.

Hope you like it!

Christmas Crackers

Hello, Merry Christmas!

imgl9038

This year I decided to make homemade crackers for my family Christmas day. I used the silhouette template found here and brought some shiny pearlescent paper from Paperchase, cut the designs on my cameo. I added tinsel and cut out names using glitter Cardstock. I just love that font!

IMGL9030.JPG

I also made paper hats adjustable with eyelets for smaller or larger heads. I included some Christmassy emblems like holly, stars and flamingos. It’s a bit of a running joke in our house about my mother in law and flamingos so with the tropical hints to the theming of this years’ Christmas I decided to include on for her. I’m not the best sewer but I had fun making them so that is all that matter.

Happy Holidays

Discovery!

Hello,

I had a visit to my parent’s house and took little man to the discovery Centre in London for a day out. The place has a little boat, a spaceship in the garden and a tree hollow. Oliver loved it and it was great for me as I knew he couldn’t escape and run around playing. They had a Dr Seuss exhibit which was just the most fun, we had a reading of an abridged version of ‘all the places you will go’ at our wedding so its become a fun part of our lives

I used a few pieces from Shimelle, Amy Tangerine and Dear Lizzy for this page. My favourite colour combinations is pink, navy and mustard!

I made the title using my new Silhouette Cameo – I’m surprised how much better it works than my old portrait and regret getting one earlier! The hexagons are from a pink paisley set which I covered in Heidi swapp glitter to make them sparkly 🙂

Stickers and the die cuts come from Shimelle and added little heart enamel dots. I got the sketch from somewhere but can’t remember where!

I really need to improve my handwriting! Thanks for reading 🙂

Double page guest designer @ stick it down

Hello There,

I got the pleasure to be the guest designer for the double page spread after submitting my layout a few months ago and it being chosen 🙂 below is the sketch I was giving which I thought was really interesting as it was really up for interpretation!

We went to Poland a few years ago before we had our son but that was before I had a fancy camera (just a little compact,) so I knew I didn’t want the photos to be too big as the quality wasn’t great with any of the photos. It was one of those filler holidays where we didn’t quite know where to go but seemed like a good idea, unfortunately my husband was sick pretty much the whole time we were there and missed most of our prearranged trips. We did manage to go to the salt mines (if you go don’t be tempted to lick the walls) and the amazing interactive museum in the town hall, I would love to go back as the people and place was just fantastic, and the snow was beautiful!

I started by using probably quite a bold pattern for the background from the Shimelle Starshine line (I love that line, I’m actually considering getting a second 12×12 paper pack)  created the diagonal stripe with more Starshine paper and added stitching to the top edge and added ample amounts of gold mist. I matted all the photos on paper and added a few strips of paper from the Shimelle True Stories line for the bottom grounding elements.

imgl8333

I tucked in lots of little paper elements from both lines to create a cluster at the top edge and room for journalling, and some pom pom thread and cotton thread to add some texture. I added some chipboard stars and flowers and painstakingly cut out the globe from another paper (I am not good at cutting things out)

I added turquoise glitter thickers for the very original title, and added dots of nuvo crystal drops in dandelion yellow. I love love love those drops – they look exactly like enamel dots but you can obviously added them in any place and size you like. I got my first one in the Crafty Templates kit a few months back and now need every colour!

Thanks for reading and thanks to stick it down for letting have a go at this fun sketch!

November Stick it down challange

Hi There,

I decided to play along again withe the stick it down challenge this month as I was inspired to make an end of the year summary with the single page sketch. I will couple this page with one or two pages to sum up our 2016.

November single page sketch

2016-11-16-15-17-27

Instead of having the top and bottom panels I opted to frame the white paper, I cut out the 2016 using my new silhouette and was harder than i thought as I just couldn’t get it to cut through all the pages. I cut 11 little photos in 4.2cm squares so they would all fit and did some stamping and gold mist in the background.

2016-11-14-21-38-14-1

I brought some fringing scissors at the weekend and was dying to try them out so I grabbed some pink, blue and yellow scraps and chucked them behind the die cut shape. I wanted to leave it pretty simple as there was a lot going on in this layout already so added a few enamel dots and left it at that. I’ve left one space for December which obviously hasn’t happened yet!

Thanks for reading

October stick it down challenge

Hello!

A very last minute challenge that I started last night from the October single page challenge on Stick it down blog using this fab sketch below

I took my little boy to a local farm for some pumpkin and halloween fun last week. He is only 2 and was super brave doing some scary challenges in the dark

2016-10-31-15-33-29

I started with some smooth white card stock and drew out a template of two pumpkins for the circular elements. I then stitched the designs and coloured in the pumpkins with watercolours.

2016-10-31-15-33-42

I matted the photos with some autumnal orange, red and brown and included some textured string and a yellow frame cut into two from freckled fawn.

2016-10-31-15-33-48

I finished off the page with some vellum and acetate embellishments from heidi swapp, colorshine mist in gold and red and some orange enamel dots. I stamped the title with a kelly purkey stamp and coloured it in with squeezed lemonade distress inks.

Thanks for reading, I really loved trying out hand sewing on a page and creating this layout.
