Over the busy festive period I don’t usually get too much scrapbooking done, I know that JYC or December Daily are beyond me! I hope you have all had a great Christmas time and have a happy new year.
This month I tried both the single and double page sketch challenges from the Stick it Down blog. First up the double page with sketch below.
I tried to keep where possible to square elements and lots of florals. This layout was a family friends recent wedding which was just a lovely autumnal wedding, the highlight being whole lamb joints with Moroccan spices for the main!
Their colour theme was reds, navy and oranges with a real rustic feel so I wanted to represent that in my layout.
The Single Sketch was quite similar to the double page with square photos seperated.
I kept the 2 areas for embellishment with photos from our tree. We don’t have a traditional tree and each year we buy one or two new family chosen decorations so it looks like a total random mishmash which suits us.
I sewed a vellum triangle tree filled with glitter and sequins, I saw the idea from Laura Whitaker on the Scrapbook like a superhero Facebook page. I added some silhouette cut stars from glitter cardstock – I added a lot of splatters and tree stamps from a Shimelle Christmas kits from a few years ago.
Thanks for looking

It’s still feeling pretty warm this October with only a few days of rain and lots of sunshine. We’ve been making the most of it playing outside in the leaf litter. I just loved this photo of my little boy making leaf angels.
First I used my silhouette to cut out this free template from Paper Issues in watercolour paper and painted them with different autumnal colours. I spritz the background with some gold and red Colorshine spray as I’m not great with white cardstock. I waited for them to dry before sticking them down a little and sewing over the layers with my machine and included some cool large copper sequins and some butterfly and leaf sequins I stole from my sons sequin stash.
I didn’t mind that the stitching was a little messy and organic. I added more droplets of mist over the leaves and added more small sequins in orange and gold and some Nuvo drops in a lovely yellow/mustardy colour. I also added some foam squares under the leaves to give them a bit more dimension.
I matted my photo with a few scrap layers of paper including one vellum piece and added some rub on stars, some cotton thread, thin wood pieces and some phrase stickers. I loved how it turned out and just made me happy!

This year I have decided to finally try and finish my wedding album. It’s mostly PL cards with a few 12×12 spaces for a few bigger layouts with my favourite photos from the day. I decided to play along with the sketches from ‘The Love of Pretty Paper‘ Facebook group.
I tried to stay pretty close to the sketch above. Our wedding colours were pink, gold, grey and cream so wanted to make it as including all of those colours.
The background is a Dear Lizzy paper I think from the Saturday collection, the big flowers and gold are from Maggie Holmes bloom which I’ve had for ages unused. I love the flowers but with a little boy its hard to grab those out so it was amazing to get those used!
I used little pink letters from a studio calico project life kit and lovely gold lettering. Even though it is only a few paces I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous, It’s weird I never had any doubts about getting married, I think it was having everyone’s eyes on us!
I put a lot of gold colour shine spray and some gold washi tape and a cut up project life card for the journalling space. I have a lot of space for journalling in the other side so wasn’t too worried about it being a really tiddy size!
I love using flowers and I tucked a few cut outs feathers from a Kaiser craft line just to add a little more grey into the very pink and gold clusters!
Thanks for reading. Only another … pages till I’m finished!
