I was feeling colourful and happy this week. Both my son and I share a birthday week. So we have a LOT of cake and adventures together. He is off to school this year so we are making the most of the last few months of just us! I made this layout for the Love challenge on the Gogogetaway facebook page.
I first made the background using a heart stencil and embellishment mousse and used the wrapper technique using different colours of distress ink. I used my silhouette to make the title elements and clouds. I got the large elements from a Flying tiger shop and just very simply layered my photo with primary colours.
I added a scattering of sequins, nuvo dots and vellum stickers to give it more colour and dimension, and finally I used some glitter glue to colour in the clouds.
I just wanted to make a fun layout with a cute photo. I hope you like it too 🙂
Over the busy festive period I don’t usually get too much scrapbooking done, I know that JYC or December Daily are beyond me! I hope you have all had a great Christmas time and have a happy new year.
This month I tried both the single and double page sketch challenges from the Stick it Down blog. First up the double page with sketch below.
I tried to keep where possible to square elements and lots of florals. This layout was a family friends recent wedding which was just a lovely autumnal wedding, the highlight being whole lamb joints with Moroccan spices for the main!
Their colour theme was reds, navy and oranges with a real rustic feel so I wanted to represent that in my layout.
The Single Sketch was quite similar to the double page with square photos seperated.
I kept the 2 areas for embellishment with photos from our tree. We don’t have a traditional tree and each year we buy one or two new family chosen decorations so it looks like a total random mishmash which suits us.
I sewed a vellum triangle tree filled with glitter and sequins, I saw the idea from Laura Whitaker on the Scrapbook like a superhero Facebook page. I added some silhouette cut stars from glitter cardstock – I added a lot of splatters and tree stamps from a Shimelle Christmas kits from a few years ago.
Thanks for looking

We had a bit of a laugh with my husband looking through my supplies and thinking of a page to design himself. He had free reign over all my supplies and made that wavy pattern by drawing around washi tape and cutting it out.
He said he had fun and understands why it takes so long to make a page now, but wouldn’t be repeating the process. I love that I have this in my album, as it says more than just a photo of my little man swimming. It’s about my husband appreciating the time that I take making these ‘pretty photo albums’ and he loves the final result.
Thanks for reading!
