Double Pages

Hi There

I must admit I usually make single pages – or a single and a pocket page for more photos but recently I’ve been having a but of fun with double pages.

The first is this page from our wedding album of our parent and grandparents wedding days. We actually included these photos at our wedding as was a lovely idea my mum had. It was great to see how the styles of weddings have changed over the years and include our beloved family. I coordinated the two pages with the colours of yellow, gold, pink and navy and added different element to make them both work as individual but complimentary pages. I rarely buy more than one piece of paper which does make these pages have a different look.

Also I took my Lego obsessed boys to an event in Birmingham last weekend. Needless to say they had a great time, there was even huge Lego pits of different colours to jump into and build, a Lego safari which took a lot of bricks and hours to make. Lego is a big thing in our house anyway, as I’m sure it is for many of you. I ended up using a lot of the Shimelle papers from Starshine, True Stories and Little By Little. I made huge cut file saying Lego and coloured it using distress inks, again the two backgrounds are different but I made them coordinate as well as I could bringing in other colours and papers to help them blend.

Scrap Lift

Hi There,

I’ve not been getting much time to scrapbook and sometimes the easiest thing to do is to find a page you like and copy it! I made this page about our towns painted pebbles and the ones we made to add to the collection.

2017-10-02 17.13.21-1I found this lovely page online with these little squares on the left hand side but cannot find the original that I scrap lifted at all! I used a range of little by little, starshine and scraps from my basket to make a multidimensional layout. I finished it off with stamping, sequins and a cutout title from my silhouette.

I loved making this page as it was very quick and simple using a previous idea – I will link to the maker of the page (it had a title of I like PINK) if I find it!

Autumn Fun

Hi there,

It’s still feeling pretty warm this October with only a few days of rain and lots of sunshine. We’ve been making the most of it playing outside in the leaf litter. I just loved this photo of my little boy making leaf angels.

2017-10-20 17.23.39First I used my silhouette to cut out this free template from Paper Issues in watercolour paper and painted them with different autumnal colours.  I spritz the background with some gold and red Colorshine spray as I’m not great with white cardstock. I waited for them to dry before sticking them down a little and sewing over the layers with my machine and included some cool large copper sequins and some butterfly and leaf sequins I stole from my sons sequin stash.

2017-10-20 17.23.16I didn’t mind that the stitching was a little messy and organic. I added more droplets of mist over the leaves and added more small sequins in orange and gold and some Nuvo drops in a lovely yellow/mustardy colour. I also added some foam squares under the leaves to give them a bit more dimension.

I matted my photo with a few scrap layers of paper including one vellum piece and added some rub on stars, some cotton thread, thin wood pieces and some phrase stickers. I loved how it turned out and just made me happy!

Discovery!

Hello,

I had a visit to my parent’s house and took little man to the discovery Centre in London for a day out. The place has a little boat, a spaceship in the garden and a tree hollow. Oliver loved it and it was great for me as I knew he couldn’t escape and run around playing. They had a Dr Seuss exhibit which was just the most fun, we had a reading of an abridged version of ‘all the places you will go’ at our wedding so its become a fun part of our lives

I used a few pieces from Shimelle, Amy Tangerine and Dear Lizzy for this page. My favourite colour combinations is pink, navy and mustard!

I made the title using my new Silhouette Cameo – I’m surprised how much better it works than my old portrait and regret getting one earlier! The hexagons are from a pink paisley set which I covered in Heidi swapp glitter to make them sparkly 🙂

Stickers and the die cuts come from Shimelle and added little heart enamel dots. I got the sketch from somewhere but can’t remember where!

I really need to improve my handwriting! Thanks for reading 🙂

October stick it down challenge

Hello!

A very last minute challenge that I started last night from the October single page challenge on Stick it down blog using this fab sketch below

I took my little boy to a local farm for some pumpkin and halloween fun last week. He is only 2 and was super brave doing some scary challenges in the dark

2016-10-31-15-33-29

I started with some smooth white card stock and drew out a template of two pumpkins for the circular elements. I then stitched the designs and coloured in the pumpkins with watercolours.

2016-10-31-15-33-42

I matted the photos with some autumnal orange, red and brown and included some textured string and a yellow frame cut into two from freckled fawn.

2016-10-31-15-33-48

I finished off the page with some vellum and acetate embellishments from heidi swapp, colorshine mist in gold and red and some orange enamel dots. I stamped the title with a kelly purkey stamp and coloured it in with squeezed lemonade distress inks.

Thanks for reading, I really loved trying out hand sewing on a page and creating this layout.
